Nice to meet you

ABOUT ME

I am a licensed counseling psychologist (NJ, NY). I graduated from Haverford College (BA), Columbia University (MA), and Fordham University (PhD). In addition to over 12 years in private practice, I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds in varied treatment settings, including The Rutgers World Trade Center Mental Health clinic, several college counseling centers, an adolescent treatment center, an eating disorder center, and a hospital based eating and wellness program. I completed advanced training and certification in eating disorders, addictions, and compulsions at The White Institute in New York, NY and am EMDR trained by the National Institute for the Psychotherapies. Some of my specialties include stress and anxiety, life transitions, PTSD/trauma, adolescent/young adult issues, parenting challenges, coping skills, disordered eating, body image, and intuitive eating.

I'm the mom of two teenagers. I love books and movies and am a life-long serious swimmer. I enjoy walking, hiking, traveling, and being outside, especially in warm weather.

My approach

EXPERIENCE

While therapy takes place in the here and now, I like to understand people's histories and backgrounds to provide the context for current struggles, challenges, AND strengths.

I believe the best therapeutic experience will be the one that matches specific approaches, interventions and strategies to you and your needs.

I was trained within a psychodynamic framework but use cognitive behavioral, DBT, and mindfulness strategies in my work. I often give out handouts and articles. I will write the main ideas from a session, as well as suggestions for what to work on during the week, on index cards for you to take with you.

I enjoy working with people on their relationship with food, eating, and body. I have particular experience and interest in binge eating, emotional eating, and overeating. I follow the principles of intuitive eating.
